A Sleek Solution For Residential Stormwater Mitigation

Previous Next

Promax Slimline Tanks Make Stormwater Management Easy

Who: M&Y Homes

Products: 24 x Promax Slimline 5,000 litre water tanks plus 24 pumps with automatic mains water changeover devices.

Where: Hobsonville Point, Auckland.

Why: Stormwater management is not always the sole responsibility of councils. In Auckland, as in most of the country, water tanks must be installed in new homes to mitigate stormwater and help ease the pressure on local drainage facilities. M & Y Homes were well aware of this as they built homes at a residential development at Hobsonville Point in West Auckland. The company required tanks that would make their new builds compliant with council stormwater regulations. At the same time, those tanks had to fit into a compact space. Auckland’s new build sections now have a median size of less than 500 square metres, with the average section about 120 square metres smaller than in the rest of New Zealand. M & Y Homes asked for a sleek solution, and Promax provided one.

What: Promax supplied 24 x 5,000 litre tanks from our Slimline range, plus 24 x pumps and RAINSAVERMK6 automatic mains changeover devices. Slimline tanks are designed to fit into residential sections, particularly where space is tight. The tanks collect rainwater from the roof and pump it back to the toilets, laundry, and outside taps using pressure system pumps installed in conjunction with RAINSAVERMK6 automatic mains changeover devices. These devices are connected to mains water and automatically switch over if the rainwater level is too low.

These dual-purpose tanks offer both detention and retention; they alleviate pressure on the public stormwater system by reducing the amount of water entering drains. At the same time, they also decrease mains water consumption, making them highly sustainable. Promax 5,000 litre Slimline tanks are perfect for this development at Hobsonville Point because they take up minimal yard space and feature inbuilt seismic restraints and pump covers to make installation fast and straightforward and hide unsightly plumbing.

Promax Slimline tanks range in capacity from 1,000 litres to 5,000 litres, with all sizes being compliant for stormwater management purposes. They’re an elegant and efficient way to mitigate stormwater in a residential section and retain water for various household activities. It’s further proof that Promax tanks don’t have to be big to be versatile.
