In the case of rainharvesting, four Promax accessories do two essential things: they clean the water before it even arrives in the tank, and they ensure the water remains fresh and pure before it is pumped into the home. The Leaf Eater, the First Flush Diverter, the Tank Vac and the Floating Outtake are the accessories that give our fantastic tanks an even better name! Read on to find out how they deliver cleaner water to our customers.

For the cleanest tank water, take a look at these smart Promax products. You use them over two stages and they deliver clean water to your house even before you bring a filter into the equation.

Stage 1:

Clean the water before it arrives in your tank. It's reassuring to know that rainwater is already free of many contaminants, bugs, leaves and other debris before it flows into your Promax tank. To achieve this, check out the Promax Leaf Eater and the First Flush Diverter. 

The Leaf Eater: This fits into your downpipe system and is the first line of defence in stopping larger debris such as leaves and branches getting into the tank. The primary mesh screen blocks that material, while an insect-proof secondary screen deals with tiny critters.

The First Flush Diverter: It does what its name suggests and with maximum efficiency. When it starts to rain, it diverts any dust and sediment that may have settled onto your roof into the chamber leaving only clean water flowing into your tank.

Diverters are available in 90mm and 120 litre kits. The 90mm kit includes a T junction and ball and drip-drainer, with the diverter installed on walls, posts, stands or under your eaves. It’s designed for a 90mm downpipe and has no chamber – you can make one to whatever length you choose with 90mm pipe. The 120 litre Diverter also has a T junction and ball and drip-drainer and a 300mm diameter 120-litre chamber which you empty once the rain stops.  

Stage 2:

Send clean water from your tank to your house. Now you have clean water going into your tank, the Promax Tank Vac and Floating Outtake will combine to deliver the same thing to your house.

Traditionally, when a tank is plumbed in, you have an overflow at the top of the tank, and an outlet back to the house at the base. This means when the tank fills up to overflowing, the fresh water coming into your tank disappears out the overflow, and you’re left with the older, dirtier water at the bottom of the tank, which is invariably where the outlet is taking water to the house.

Ideally, you would swap the overflow and outlet around, so the overflow is from the base, and the outlet is at the top, near the water surface.

Tank Vac: Any debris that gets into the tank settles on the floor where the outlet is located. The Tank Vac is the best way to keep this area clean. Every time your tank fills to the point of overflowing, the Tank Vac builds up a head of pressure and dumps out the overflow by sucking from the pipe across the floor of the tank and taking out any debris that might have settled there. The fresh water that's just arrived in your tank remains, meaning a healthier water supply is delivered to your home.

Floating Outtake: The outtake floats on the surface and always takes the cleanest water in your tank which is 100 – 150mm below the surface, no matter the water level. Like the Tank Vac, the floating outtake requires no regular maintenance to make it function, just the occasional inspection to check the mesh isn't blocked.
